Talos Arctica™

by Thermo Fisher Scientific - highly automated transmission electron microscope designed for rapid screening and mid-resolution data collection of frozen-hydrated samples. 

  • The electron source - Schottky X-FEG - uses an accelerated voltage of 200 kV.
  • Falcon 3EC detector operated through the EPU software for automated data collection.
  • Robotic loading of up to 11 TEM grids per cassette for increased throughput.
  • Automated data collection mode enabling long unattended operation.

Titan Krios™

by Thermo Fisher Scientific - a state-of-the-art automated transmission electron microscope for high-resolution data collection on frozen-hydrated samples.

  • The electron source - Schottky X-FEG - uses an accelerated voltage of 300 kV.
  • Falcon 3EC direct electron detector
  • Falcon 4i direct electron detector after SelectrisX energy filter
    • Sensor size 4,096 x 4,096 pixels
    • Pixel size 14 µm x 14 µm
    • Internal frame rate 240 fps
    • File formats include EER mode (all frames accessible – fractionation not required)
    • Imaging performance (counting) DQE (0) = 0.85 DQE (0.5 Nq) = 0.60 DQE (1.0 Nq) = 0.20 
  • Fringe Free Imaging (FFI) and Aberration Free Imaging System (AFIS) are present.
  • Robotic loading of up to 11 TEM grids per cassette for increased throughput
  • Data collection is operated through the EPU software collection, enabling long, unattended operation.
